I had big plans to post lots of photos of Alice this week but she got a booster shot on Wednesday and was pretty much down for the count until last night. She seemed to go from lethargic to ready to party in about 30 seconds, which was pretty funny at 11 o'clock at night. I'm happy to say she's feeling much better today and I will be taking my camera with me this afternoon on a walk with some friends and most of the pack. Most of the girls don't want to deal with muddy dogs during the spring thaw so we'll be doing a lot of on leash excursions. Luckily Beth isn't afraid of mud so I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing some funny pics of Alice and Lincoln over the next month or so as well.
In other news it was great to get outside for my first spring run with Dana yesterday. We did 8.5k along the waterfront and it felt great. I topped that with a 5 k walk with the girls later in the day and I will honestly admit to feeling it just a little today:).
It's absolutely gorgeous out today so I opened up the kitchen windows and I'm very much enjoying a lazy morning with coffee, spring breezes and a view of the pups enjoying the sunshine outside. After a long winter, that we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of, the warm tease of spring is a welcome surprise.
Live your life with an appreciation of coincidences and you connect with the field of infinite possibilities. Chopra.

What happens when you meet your running partner for a doggy playdate at Chedoke...
...and decide to head in the opposite direction than you usually go in? Well, since this is Hamilton... you walk until you hit a Starbucks of course!
Alice and I met my friend Dana and her puppy Louie (both mentioned here before) at Chedoke and decided instead of heading up the Radial trail we would go the other way. We headed down some of the older streets in Hamilton and hit the Starbucks on Locke Street. While Dana went in I spent an enjoyable 10 minutes talking to an older man who loved hearing all about Alice and Louie (who is a rescue dog from Hurricane Ike). Alice makes new friends everywhere she goes, partly due to her original look and of course her very sweet personality. We took a bit of a different route back, following a trail that led to the golf course and then through the golf course up to the parking lot. Alice was soooo tired from her adventures yesterday that even when I dropped her leash she didn't want to run off and play with Louie.
Tomorrow is another big day for her as she has a vet appointment, her first since arriving in Canada. She had three while en route so the vet said it was okay to wait a bit.
Some pics as always
Now a bonus pic from yesterday... Alice and Lincoln were cracking us up when they were sharing a long thin stick. They weren't fighting over it at all but it kept breaking and it was almost as if they were handing it back and forth. So cute!

While his boy is away, Alice will play.....
...and these photos are to show one little boy who might be missing his puppy that I'm keeping her busy while he is gone:).
Alice had two puppy playdates today but I only took the camera for one. We spent two hours hiking around a local park with some friends and their Border Collie, Lincoln, who I know I've posted photos of before.
There is more fun on the agenda tomorrow so don't forget to check back soon!

To all those that wonder what a pup from Afghanistan thinks of the snow....
...just look at how much this crazy girl loves it!
Alice is always a playful and fun loving dog, despite that serious face of hers, but add a little snow and she truly has a blast. She played out back for an hour yesterday, tossing a rawhide bone around then looking for it under the snow, racing back and forth and so on. Then, for fun, we went on a hike in the fresh snow with her friend Buster. Pics of that hike are on Facebook if you care to look but trust me when I say, Alice has absolutely no problem with the white fluffy stuff!

The Driving Park
There is a park in our town that is pretty much the center hub of activity all year round. There are baseball fields, playgrounds, an ice rink in the winter that the kids skateboard and do bike tricks on in the summer, there is a splash pool in the summer, they hold the annual fireworks celebrations here and in the summer there are weekly concerts by local musicians. The park is surrounded or enclosed actually, by a road, there are a few houses along the other side of it and one of the local high schools is up a small hill. The road itself it almost a kilometer and people have been running and walking laps there for as long as the park has been there.
Thursday after school Alec and I decided to go to the park and he played on the playgrounds and basically had a good run around checking everything out while I did some laps with Alice. Alice and I met a couple of friends, a few nice dogs and it was interesting to see Alice react with disdain at a dog that was very noisy and not very nice. One of the dogs we met was a small puppy and I was wondering what Alice would think. When the puppy started to play with Alice I thought she might get a little rambunctious because she loves to play but she just let the much smaller puppy jump all over her. It was so sweet. Dogs just know I think.
